What is the Find an Apprenticeship tool?
The Find an Apprenticeship tool enables you to find Apprenticeships for your learners. The tool links to the live GOV.UK Apprenticeship database, and is regularly updated with new opportunities.
Using the Find an Apprenticeship tool
To access the Find an Apprenticeship tool, select 'Apprenticeships' on the navigation bar:
The Apprenticeships screen has two panels: the left-hand panel features a series of tools that allow you to search and browse, while the right-hand panel displays search results:
Searching for Apprenticeships
To search for Apprenticeships, select the ‘Keyword’ tab in the search panel. Here you can enter search criteria to find a suitable Apprenticeship for a learner:
- Keywords:
- The dropdown menu enables you to search all opportunity fields, or limit your search to the Job title, Description , Employer or Reference number (if known)
- You can enter keywords in the free-text field (e.g. ‘hospitality’ or ‘STEM’).
- Your postcode:
- The search defaults to using your institution’s postcode, but you can add change this if you wish
- Within: use the dropdown to change the search radius from the postcode in the field above
- Apprenticeship level: the field defaults to ‘All levels’, but you have the option of restricting your search to Intermediate, Advanced, Higher or Degree-level apprenticeship
- Disability Confident: check this box if you wish to restrict your search to opportunities from employers the have signed-up to the Disability Confident scheme:
Once you have entered your search criteria, click ‘Search’. Your results will appear in the right-hand panel:
Click on a Job title to see the full details of the Apprenticeship opportunity on the GOV.UK website (this opens in a new browser window). To apply for the Apprenticeship, the user needs to click ‘Apply now’ above the closing date:
Browsing Apprenticeships
Alternatively, you can choose to browse the database of Apprenticeship opportunities by sector.
Firstly, select the Category tab in the left-hand panel, then choose from the following sectors in the dropdown list:
1. Agriculture, Horticulture and Animal Care
2. Arts, Media and Publishing
3. Business, Administration and Law
4. Construction, Planning and the Built Environment
5. Education and Training
6. Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies
7. Health, Public Services and Care
8. History, Philosophy and Theology
9. Information and Communication Technology
10. Languages, Literature and Culture
11. Leisure, Travel and Tourism
12. Preparation for Life and Work
13. Retail and Commercial Enterprise
14. Science and Mathematics
15. Social Sciences:
The Postcode, Within, Apprenticeship and Disability Confident fields offer the same options as for a Keyword search.
