The Future Skills Questionnaire data visualisation tools enable Careers Leaders to quickly compare groups of learners. This data intelligence can then be used to help plan activities to better meet learners’ requirements.
Below is a practical example of how Careers Leaders can apply their FSQ data in this way.
Example: Comparing boys’ and girls’ Post-16 questionnaire responses
1. The Careers Leaders firstly selects Learner > Questionnaires on the navigation bar, then selects the ‘Detailed report’ on the second tab:
2. They then select ‘Post-16’ from the Questionnaire type dropdown:
3. The Careers Leader decides to see if there is any gender disparity in their questionnaire results. They start by selecting ‘Gender’ in the ‘Compare groups’ dropdown list:
4. They look down the list of the questions and notice that a few of the questions have disparities between the numbers of boys’ and girls’ responses. Question 16: Do you feel confident talking about your skills in an interview, has a particular disparity, with only 36% of girls responding positively:
5. As girls’ lack of confidence in this area may be an aspiration-limiting factor, the Careers Leader decides that this is an issue that must be addressed. They decide to create an activity to meet this gap, but firstly click on Question 16 to drill-down further and see which girls have answered most negatively:
6. The Careers Leader then creates an activity in their Plan to meet this need:
By using the data intelligence provided by the Future Skills Questionnaire, the Careers Leader has identified the girls who are lacking the most confidence in their skills and been able to target them for additional provision.
