The Future Skills Questionnaire detailed report data visualisation enables Careers Leaders to quickly identify learners who might be in need of additional support. This data intelligence can then be used to help plan activities to meet the requirements of these individual learners.
Below are practical examples of how a Careers Leader can apply their FSQ data in this way.
Example: Identifying GCSE learners who may be falling behind and targeting further provision
1. The Careers Leaders selects Learner > Questionnaires on the navigation bar, then selects the ‘Detailed report’ on the second tab:
2. The Careers Leader wants to check on the individual progress of all learners who have completed the GCSE Years questionnaire. They select ‘GCSE Years’ in the Questionnaire type dropdown:
3. They see that in the ‘Careers knowledge and skills’ section of the questionnaire there are two learners who are answering the majority of the questions negatively:
4. They click on the 'Mostly negative' bar to identify the two students:
They see that the two learners who are answering most of the questions negatively for this section are Elliot Bell and Charles Johnson.
5. The Careers Leader now decides to look at the second section of the questionnaire - ‘Essential skills for life and work’ - by selecting it from the dropdown:
6. This time there is a larger group of 42 students answering mostly negatively:
7. The Careers Leader investigates further by clicking on the bar chart and identifying the learners:
8. Using the data intelligence provided by their FSQ results, the Careers Leader firstly decides to look in more detail at the activities planned or completed for the identified learners:
Some of the learners already have activities planned that should address some of the negative questionnaire responses. However, it is clear from the Compass+ learner profile data that a number of the cohort identified through the FSQ results are lacking provision, particularly with regard to essential skills for work and life.
10. The Careers Leader decides to create a Custom group in Compass+ to address these gaps:
Once the Custom group has been created, the Careers Leader can then create activities and quickly assign the group to them.
By using their Future Skills Questionnaire results in this way, the Careers Leader has identified learners who may be in need of additional support, and started to plan further provision to meet their individual needs.
