About the Skills Builder Framework
The Skills Builder Framework is a transformative approach to building the essential skills of individuals throughout their lives, in education and employment. For educators, the Framework can be used to support children and young people to:
- Understand their existing skills: reflecting on where their essential skills currently are, and being able to identify any gaps they might have
- See what progress looks like: being able to see what the next steps are to improve their essential skills further
- Join the dots: using a consistent language and understanding of essential skills to understand how they are used and practised in lots of different settings
- Capture success: seeing progress and being able to better articulate their skills.
The Skills Builder Framework defines eight areas of essential skills:
- Listening
- Speaking
- Problem Solving
- Creativity
- Staying Positive
- Aiming High
- Leadership
- Teamwork.
The Skills Builder Hub features a huge array of free resources for teaching and assessing the essential skills, plus an easy way to track group-level progress against the Skills Builder Framework.
